THE SERMON TITLE this morning is Are You Listening?

WE WELCOME TOM STEVENS to Leidy’s Church this morning. For many years Leidy’s Church has supported the work of the Greater Philadelphia Pro-Life Union, yet we’ve never had a speaker from that ministry share with us. That changes today. Tom Stevens heads up the Pro-Life Union and is able to give us insight to all that’s happening on the pro-life front. We’ll find we have reasons for thanksgiving as well as reasons for prayer and action.

JOIN US: Coffee and some sweets will be served immediately after the Sunday service at 11:15 in the foyer (narthex). Come and join us for a great chance to get to know others, catch up with one another and welcome newcomers to our Church Family.

JOIN US FOR OUR NEW monthly Church Prayer Meeting on Thursday, March 24^th from 7:00-8:15pm in the Fellowship Hall to pray for God’s blessing on the life of our church family.

PATTERNS OF PRAYER take place the first and third Saturdays of each month. We pray in the morning from 10 to 12 in Rm. 117. Participants are welcome to come and go as schedules permit/necessitate. This Saturday is the third Saturday of October, so we’ll be praying and you’re welcome to join us. If you have any questions or suggestions for prayer, please speak with Patricia Martindell.

THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED to the Help for Sai fund. We were able to send $3,250 to his aid. Here’s the response from our man in Thailand, Steve Marks, when he found out: Wow! What great news and what a blessing to Sai and his family! He is getting stronger each day. Today he ate his first real food in 3 weeks! We hope he will be out of the hospital by the end of the week. He has a medic friend who brought him to Chiang Rai for surgery. Had fun yesterday playing ping pong with his friend who is staying in Chiang Rai while Sai is recovering. His friend (Sai Pan) is Buddhist, but yesterday when I asked him why he wears the amulet it led into a discussion about Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit.  God is working!

GOSPEL GLEANING PRAYER POINTERS  

• Life is becoming more difficult for Christian believers in India. The new believers among the Erukula people experience this, in fact, they live with it. Like us, they can become confused and puzzled by the things the Lord allows to come into the lives of His people. Hence, a good verse to bring a word of help in such situations is Psalm 119:169. In such times we need to turn to the Lord and cry out to Him. We need to seek understanding from Him. Here’s how that verse puts it: Let my cry come before You, O Lords; Give me understanding according to Your Word. This, by the way, is right in line with what we hear from J.C. Ryle in his book Holiness. May we and the Erukula people by the grace of God view our situations according to God’s teaching in the Bible.

• Pray for the disciples who have been trained at the Faso for Christ Discipleship Training School as well as others from the Transformation of Nations School in Burkina Faso. [If you’re trying to remember why Burkina Faso sounds familiar, it’s because that’s where Pam Kirkpatrick (now Pam Gordon!) did a mission project a number of years ago.] These programs are fruit from the Global Disciples Directors Training held in Niger this past August and sponsored by Leidy’s Church. They are reaching out to the Nounis people, also known as Nuna. The Nuna, existing only in Burkina Faso, consists of two tribes with two distinct dialects, one in the North and one in the South. Population is around 325,000. Both tribes cling to traditional religions but evangelical churches are growing. Praise God that the New Testament has been translated and printed in Southern Nuna. Pray that the Lord will open doors to unreached villages to hear the good news of Jesus, and that the emerging church will fix their eyes on Jesus and run the race with perseverance, reaching many others for Christ. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.[Hebrews 12:1-2a]

PRAYER ROOM - A bulletin board has been set up in the Prayer Room (Rm. 117) on the first floor where you can tack up your prayer request and praises (answers to prayer requests). Stop in anytime the church is open and utilize this new way of receiving prayer requests and allowing our members and friends to join in praying for them.
